Christmas Celebration by MUKA –Nottingham, UK

MUKA is proud to have hosted another successful event of Christmas gathering after the carol singing which took place on the
27th December 2009 at St. Theresa's Church Hall, Aspley - Nottingham.

Fr. Olvin Veigas SJ celebrated the Eucharist in Konkani at St. Theresa’s Church which was accompanied by MUKA’s choir adding their melodious voices.
 
Soon after the Eucharist, a short cultural programme was organised by MUKA's committee and its members under the leadership of Sunil D'Cunha, the president of MUKA.

A well adorned stage with a crib, colourful lightings were set by our talented Walter Rodrigues of ‘waltsdecor’ fame. Mr D'Cunha welcomed the guests with Christmas greetings and carol singing.


Mr. John Fernandes as Santa Claus entertained the kids and everyone while children had great fun with Santa receiving sweets and dancing with him to the tune of ‘jingle bells’.
 


For the children below the age 10, a competition of reciting ‘Our Father’ in Konknai was held. Averil Alvaris, a 4 year old bagged the 1st prize.

She surprised everyone with her flawless pronunciation and recitation. The 2nd prize went to Hadley D'souza and 3rd prize to Jessica Aranha.



Mrs. Dorothy Prakash had spearheaded homemade kuswar along with other volunteers of MUKA during Advent was served to all with coffee and soft drinks


Melvia Reeni D'souza danced to the tune of Dayya Dayya entertaining all those present for which she received a big applause. Mr. Deepak Alvaris & Anitha Sequiera sang a Konkani song Happy Christmas tukam.

Another young talent Melrina Periera danced to the catchy tune of Soni kudi tere nakhre sone lagde followed by a Desi dance from film Dostana by Desi girls team lead by Mrs Dorothy Prakash ,Mrs Shalini Pinto and Mrs Sunitha Rodrigues.

A part of the programme also included games for children and adults’ alike - musical chair and mimicry. Mrs Shalini Pinto, vice president of MUKA proposed vote of thanks to all those gathered especially for those who made this event memorable one and to Fr. Michael, for providing Church and the hall. The baila blast brought the programme to the conclusion.
