Mother District of Lionism
selects Terry D'Souza as Sector Coordintor
Chicago, July 26: Raymond Jachim governor of
District 1-A, Mother District of Lionism chose Terry
D'Souza as a North Sector Coordinator to assist Vice District Governor. Under
her leadership Terry has 8 zones with 40 clubs. Her goal is to
concentrate on communication between clubs and District Officers to see further
growth of lionism in this district. So far this district have 3 Indian origin lions clubs namely - The
Forest Kala Sampath Lions Club, Chicago Indo-US Lions
Club and Flossmoor Roshni Lions Club.
Lion Terry D’Souza joined the Broadview Kala Sampath
Lions Club as a charter member and has been a member of the Board of Directors,
Vice-President, President, Co-Secretary, Membership Chair, Tail Twister, and
this year is the secretary of the club and has maintained perfect attendance
for the last 13 years. She has been a Zone Chairperson for 4 years,
USA/Canada Chairperson for 3 years. The club has honored
her with a Lions Clubs International Melvin Jones Fellow and Lions of Illinois
Foundation Fellow. In 2006 Broadview
Kala Sampath Lions Club merged with The Forest Lions
Club and now this club is known as The Forest Kala Sampath
Lions Club. Lion Terry has chaired many committees, including Community
Service Award Committee. Last year Lion Terry received Life Time Voluntary
Service Award from President George Bush for her dedication and hard work in
Indian Community in Chicago. She has also received several appreciation awards from several
past district governors for her lionistic work.
Lion Terry has a master’s degree in Counseling
Psychology and is retired after working for 31 years as Administrator for Cook
County Hospital now called Stroeger Hospital in Chicago.
Lion Terry is married to Past District Governor Lion Austin D’Souza Prabhu and served District 1-A as a First Lady in
2004-05. While Lion Austin was Multiple District1, State of
Illinois Vice Council Chairman, Lion Terry entertained Council Spouses by
arranging various activities during council meetings. Lion Terry
has four children – Anita, Anil and Atina who are
lions and Angel is a Leo.
